One Little Word

While looking through blogs and instagram, I stumbled upon a blog that talked about OLW (One Little Word). Many of my fellow IG friends have been posting their One Little Word which they will focus on for 2014.   I decided to join all of these bloggers and instagramers and think of a word that would define my 2014 year. I thought a lot about what word would suit me best. I came up with this one:
I will not give up on my dreams.
If I get knocked down, I will continue. I won't let any obstacle or hurdle make the decision for me to give up.
I will keep trying my best.
I will persevere through everything that may come my way.

Here's to a year of persevering!

What will be your OLW?

31 things in 301 days

Happy New Year everyone! I am very grateful for everything 2013 gave me. I can't wait to see what 2014 has in store for me. I was inspired by the lovely Whitley from Simply Whit in a Sequined Life to write 31 things in 301 days. (I am actually writing a smaller list because Whitley wrote a list of 101 things in 1001 Days).

I remember when I was in my early 20s, I'd make my New Year's resolution and then a few weeks and sometimes days later, I would not keep up with it. Now that I am older, why not make a list I can actually accomplish? With that being said, here are the 31 things I hope to accomplish in 301 days. Wish me luck!!!

Start date: January 1st, 2014
End date: October 29th, 2014

31 Things in 301 days
1. Add $1000 to my savings account within 3 months.
2. Only buy lunch on Fridays. Bring leftovers for lunch instead (I tend to over spend everyday for lunch...smh).
3. Try the #2014closetremixchallenge that @Jen_murph from instagram is hosting for a month or more. (I need to start saving more than spending and this is a great way to do it).
4. Drink a bottle or more of water a day.
5. Drive my car more. (My car sits in my driveway most of the week. I guess I became too used to public transportation LOL).
6. No Diet soda for a week...Ekkk!!!
7. No Regular soda for a month!
8. Wear my CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) for two months.
9. Travel to another state (not counting New Jersey).
10. Pay off one of my credit cards.
11. Learn to use my new camera settings.
12. Don't complain about work for an entire week. (That's going to be VERY tough)
13. Cut my hair...ahhhhh
14. Post more often on my blog.
15. Travel to another country.
16. Go to Sunday mass more often.
17. Visit the dentist...Ekkkk!!
18. Eat more veggies.
19. Cook dinner (Lazy pants over here...LOL)
20. Organize my closet
21. Organize my room.
22. Watch the first season of "Breaking Bad".
23. Figure out a good way to budget my money.
24. Complete my Student Teaching.
25. Complete my Masters of Education.
26. Get my NYS Teaching License in Special Education.
27. Try a new type of food.
28. Move out.
29. Go to a spa.
30. Put $31 into my savings for each goal I complete.
31. Once this list is completed, make a 101 things in 1001 days list.

So here is my list...hopefully I can accomplish all of these by my deadline (I tend to also be a procrastinator). Feel free to join me if you would like and don't forget to check out Whitley's blog!

A little gold and a little sparkle...

My co worker gave me the cutest clutch ever! Actually, its not even a clutch its a bag that came with Victoria's Secret Angel's Gold spray, lotion and wash.  Let me just say that this fragrance smells so good! I love the scent. Anywho, I thought of using the bag as a makeup bag but its just too pretty. I think using it as a clutch is more fitting.
I think it goes perfectly with my accessories today, don't you think? Hehe...

Dinner at City Island

What better way to spend my day off than to have dinner with the lil sis and my long time friend Karen. Karen and I have known each other since the 7th grade. That's 18 years of friendship! Karen had moved upstate to Ulster County with her husband and son (who happens to be my god son) in October so I barely get to see her anymore.
We decided to have dinner in City Island. City Island is a small Island on the Long Island Sound in the Bronx. It is famous for its many seafood restaurants. It houses four yacht clubs all located on the Eastchester Bay side of the Island. Anyway enough about that. We ate at Sammy's Fish Box. It was actually my second time ever visiting that restaurant. The service was great. The food was awesome too!
