Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my amazing mother's birthday! I am dedicating this post to her.

Happy birthday Mom! Today I celebrate you!

Mom, thank you for always listening to me vent about anything in my life. Thank you for always reminding me to check my blood sugar when I was first diagnosed with diabetes. Thank you for always making sure I ate my snacks and checked my blood sugar daily. And for being my rock through the whole ordeal (You are a blessing!).

Mom, thank you for taking me on trips to the Dominican Republic when I was a little girl. They made me appreciate my heritage and embrace my culture. Thank you for always cooking an amazing dinner and for attempting to try and teach me to cook...(I need more lessons).

Thank you for ONLY yelling at me when I left the playground that one day during recess and you came to spend time with me only to realize I wasn't there. (I am so sorry for making you panic for 10 minutes!) I thank you for our arguments (yes our arguments) because they keep me grounded and  they make me respect you even more.

Thank you for shopping with me. (Sorry I get impatient when you seem to browse the same store for hours). Thank you for teaching me to be independent and for learning how to save money (we still need to work on that one). Thank you for calling me when I stay out late just to make sure I am ok. (Even though sometimes it annoys me, I love that you still worry).

Thank you for being the one who always encouraged me to be a teacher (even when I didn't realize it myself). Mom, thank you for always clipping newspaper listings and brochures for jobs in education and what is new in education as well.

Thank you for being my role model, my best friend and my biggest supporter. You're an inspiration to all! All that I am and all that I aspire to be, I owe it to you Mom!

I love you!!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

In honor of Dr. Seuss birthday, I decided to post pictures of my baby cousin Gabby's first birthday party which I attended last week. She loves Hop On Pop so much, that her mom decided to decorate her party with Dr. Seuss books, decor and favors. I must say she definitely knows how to decorate a party. From the balloons, to the favors, to the outfits Gabby and her big sister wore (she had them custom made on Etsy), everything screamed Dr. Seuss. Here are a few photos from the party.

See? She really loves that book! :)
How adorable is her outfit? I wish I had a picture of what her older sister was wearing. Her top said "Proud Sister".

I wish I had taken more pictures of her decor. Dr. Seuss is so popular in my classroom as well. My little students love when I read Green Eggs And Ham, as well as Go Dogs Go and the ever favorite Hop on Pop. The rhythmic words of his books, which are so catchy, make reading his books so enjoyable.

My favorite Dr. Seuss quote

Which is your favorite Dr. Seuss book?

Food For Thought...

It has been forever since my last blog post...so sorry about that! I have been so busy writing Progress Reports for my little students and having events at work like "WORK WITH YOUR CHILD (when parents come into the classroom and spend some time with their child) that I have neglected my blog and some of my outfit posts on IG.

I have been doing lots of thinking as to what I want to do with my career, do I want to stay a Pre-school teacher? A Montessori Teacher? Do I want to work with older children? Elementary? All these questions keep flowing through my mind. One thing is for sure, I want to remain a teacher. I love what I do day in and day out.

Back in January I posted my OLW that would be the word I use for the year. (PERSEVERE).  I am not giving up on what I want to accomplish. But as they say, what you really want will never come easy. I guess that part is true. You must work hard to accomplish your goals because well...you learn to appreciate them that much more. So with that being said, let's see what the next couple of months have in store for me.

One Little Word

While looking through blogs and instagram, I stumbled upon a blog that talked about OLW (One Little Word). Many of my fellow IG friends have been posting their One Little Word which they will focus on for 2014.   I decided to join all of these bloggers and instagramers and think of a word that would define my 2014 year. I thought a lot about what word would suit me best. I came up with this one:
I will not give up on my dreams.
If I get knocked down, I will continue. I won't let any obstacle or hurdle make the decision for me to give up.
I will keep trying my best.
I will persevere through everything that may come my way.

Here's to a year of persevering!

What will be your OLW?
