This is my very first post!! Yay!! I am so excited to finally get this blog started! I've been contemplating for a while on whether or not I should start a blog. I mean do I even have time to start one? But I feel this could be my creative outlet and I love and enjoy reading other blogs, where I get ideas for classroom materials and outfits.
So here's a little bit about myself:
I am currently a grad student pursuing my Master's Degree in Early Childhood, Childhood, and Special Education.
I am sort of a workaholic. I sometimes leave my job two hours after I clock out working on new materials or decorating my bulletin board.
I work at a Montessori Pre-school in Manhattan. I love my job! Some days are challenging but it is all worth it!
I am a moderate shopaholic (I say 'moderate' because I don't spend too much but I do enjoy shopping every now and then).
I am a amateur baker. I love love baking cupcakes and cake bites. I am not the best at decorating them but I do try my best.
I am a diabetic. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes when I was 15 years old and for some reason have had a bad case of a sweet tooth ever since. (I absolutely LOVE chocolate!).
This blog will be about my life, montessori, and shopping. I hope you all enjoy reading my blog! Happy Reading!
CONGRATS on the new blog, Kira!! And for choosing a stellar blog designer ;)! I can't wait to read your future posts - you have amazing style!

wow I'm so happy I found your blog and so eager to hear about your experiences as you progress! I'm currently in the process of making a career change from the business/fashion world into EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION too! I'm applying to graduate schools for the summer, and plan to either pursue a dual-degree in Early Childhood Special and General Education, or ideally there is one program that offers three certifications: a dual language/bilingual program where I'd get the EC general & special certification along with a bilingual extension! I too "assumed" I would want to teach in elementary school - either first or 2nd grade - but I'm beginning to feel more and more that even younger is the place for me! My experience with 4-year olds was what initially drew me in. I've been tutoring 1st and 2nd graders and have shadowed a 2nd grade class...but most recently I began as an assistant at a preschool - and I see myself there for the rest of my life! I'm now almost dreading grad school because I don't want to leave..(an irrational fear because the school year ends just in time for me to start this summer)..and maybe I can do my student teaching there!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm looking forward to hearing how things go for you! Also, which grad school do you go to?! (I'm also in NY!)
Awesome thank you so much! I actually want to work with Pre-school aged children meaning 4 and 5. Thats my dream :) Right now I have young toddlers and although I love it, I want to try something different. I will be student teaching in the summer in a 4th grade class for my childhood portion of my masters. Which grad school do you have in mind? I hear Hunter has a really good education program. I am actually at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. Great school but too expensive.
